Spring Fever
It’s the time of year when flowers are blooming, the days are getting longer, the weather is getting warmer, and kids are getting restless. The pattern is cyclical and every year we see dancers getting burnt out on their dance classes, school work, chores, and other activities. It’s important to remember that we all have a commitment to our dance classmates that we need to uphold. Our last performance of the year is only 10 weeks away, and we have a lot of work to do before then!
It’s also important to take time to enjoy yourself on days when you can. During weekends spend a day to yourself – read a book, lay out in the sun, take a walk, sidewalk chalk art… Reenergize yourself and get some Vitamin D (but wear your sunscreen!). Everyone will benefit from some personal time — parents too!
Now that spring is upon us, we will all be working very diligently to produce some wonderful dances for our annual recital and we will need all the energy we can get! So get ready to create some amazing dance pieces that will wow our audiences at our June Recital! Together we can make our Fabulous 15th recital the most Glamorous Gala yet!
Congratulations to Peter Pan Cast & Crew
We are so proud of all the amazing dancers who participated in TPDC’s Peter Pan! The show was absolutely wonderful and we loved seeing all our amazingly talented students shine on stage! Of course, the show wouldn’t have looked near as fantastic without the help of our behind-the-scenes crew. Thank you to all of the helpers who made this show one to remember. Special thanks to Stephanie and her fearless sidekick Shelly who are always slaving away sewing and creating costumes so our dancers look beautiful on stage. And to Kyle and David for helping create some last minute set pieces! To all the moms and dads who helped make this show amazing as well!
Last call for MADI!
If any student age 6+ would like to participate in the Mid-Atlantic Dance Initiative in Charleston, WV on June 4-6, let Miss Kat know ASAP. MADI is a wonderful dance festival where each student who attends gets a chance to perform as well!
TPDC Dancers in the WV Dance Festival
The dancers of TPDC will be traveling to Charleston this month to participate in the WV Dance Festival. Both “Fire from Within” and “Vienna” have been selected as 2 of roughly 30 pieces to perform during the course of the festival. Congratulations ladies and gentlemen!
Recital Packets
We are only 10 weeks away from our recital, “15 and Fabulous: A Glamorous Gala” and recital packets are available at the front desk! A parent must sign for the packet and check the spelling of their dancer’s name.
As the students learn and polish their dances, it’s important that parents read and schedule reminders for the important extras that come along with a production. Packets will include all dates/times/locations of everything recital. Before asking questions, make sure you have read your packet thoroughly. Some pointers to help you get the most of this time of year:
- Highlight each time/day your child has rehearsal
- Highlight all the due dates
- Read all information carefully
- Enter dates/times on your calendar
- Set a reminder alarm for those dates/times
- Ask questions early!
Recital seems so far away but May and June will be here before we know it. With that in mind, mark your calendar now!
Please remember that attendance for class and rehearsals in May and June are MANDATORY so that we can ensure all of the students are well-prepared for their big day! We want our students to feel calm, comfortable and prepared when they grace the stage so their passion for dance (and not their nerves) will shine through.
Recital costumes
Recital costumes will be handed out starting April 27. We will send a reminder! A parent must come in to the studio to receive costumes. After trying on to show mom/dad, please steam costumes and place somewhere they will be safe from pets and little dirty hands.
REMINDER: All bills must be paid prior to pickup!
Costumes will not be distributed and recital tickets will not be able to be purchased until all past due balances are paid. Check with Miss Jessica to make sure you account is up to date!
